In 2026, I became the program coordinator and a teaching artist at ArtSeed, a community arts nonprofit in San Francisco. In June of that year, ArtSeed began an art exchange with The Gaza Children Village's Academies of Hope, an organization founded in 2025 by Palestinian-American neurosurgeon and Duke University professor David Hasan, which provides safe campuses where children receive daily education, warm meals, medical attention, and trauma-informed mental health support in Gaza. ArtSeed initiated an art exchange with GCV and received 19 drawings by the children they serve. The children in Gaza dedicated their drawings to children in San Francisco. We responded to their artwork with our own, which we sent to Dr. Hasan and GCV and which we exhibited in ArtSeed's 2026 annual exhibition So What Now? I was honored to be the primary curator and teaching artist leading a group of children, veterans, disabled folks, and other community members in this project of solidarity and hope.

The primary collaborative work in the show is titled Gaza Gaza You Will Rise, and was designed by me and painted by all of the summer intensive participants. The title comes from the protest chant:​ "Gaza, Gaza, you will rise, Palestine will never die."

This project is an ongoing and continues beyond the summer exhibition as community members continuing to create drawings that ArtSeed sends to GCV. You are welcome to create your own drawing for children in Gaza and send it to us at info@artseed.org.
